5 steps to do a backflip on a trampoline

Practicing trampoline backflips safely is all about following the steps and making sure that you feel confident in what you are doing. If you are still novel to trampoline tricks, practice Pullovers (watch Pullover tutorial video here) first before attempting to learn how to do a backflip on a trampoline.

Step 1 - Jump on Your Back

Familiar with Pullovers? Then this step should be easy. Start with smaller bounces and slowly increase the height of the jump. Looking up while falling down will give you a confidence boost.

Step 2 - Jump Tucked on Your Back

Follow the same steps as in step 1, but do a tuck instead. Grasp your legs in the air as you jump on your back. To get momentum, you can rotate with the help of your arms.

Step 4 - Time to do the Backflip

It's time to just do it once you feel confident. Make yourself more comfortable by using a crash mat underneath. It is more important to do the flip than to land perfectly during this step.

In order to avoid hurting yourself, you must never hesitate mid-air when doing a backflip. Once you decide to do it, go for it 100%.

Step 5 - Practice the Landing

Now that you’re flipping backward, it’s time to learn to land perfectly. Aim to land on both feet and remember to use your arms to get more air and rotation to the jumps.
